Things to be thankful for

It’s been a busy few months (not to mention very cold) and I’ve been madly exploring my creative side in the wee hours. I’ve also been feeling very blessed and lucky to be healthy again and driven.

I enjoy flicking through Australian photo archives (particularly on Flickr) for inspiration and escaping the ‘everyday’.

This photo caught my eye recently, from Sydney 1935. Beautiful. Playful.

Ironside Open Day

Found out about this very last minute, but Ironside Studios is having an open day this Sunday from 12-3pm.

Ironside comprises of a number of creative business such as Like Butter, Spin Spin and many many more! The space has recently been expanded and would be an interesting and inspiring look see at what everyone is up to down there.

Bircher muesli

Bircher Muesli

Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day. I love bircher muesli, especially when you can make your own with your favourite ingredients!

Here is the recipe I follow, to make the muesli in the photo above:

1 cup rolled oats (I like the ‘quick’ oats for the finer texture)
I cup of really good quality/fresh orange juice (or apple if you prefer)
1/2 cup natural yoghurt (Jalna is the best!)
1/2 handful of dried cranberries
Small handful of chopped raw almonds
a heavy sprinkling of nutmeg
a heavy sprinkling of cinnamon
4 dried apricots, chopped

1) Simple – mix everything together in a bowl. It should be more gluggy than thick, because the oats will absorb the yoghurt/juice overnight and will thicken naturally. So don’t stress if it looks like it’s swimming a bit!

2) Cover with cling wrap and leave in the fridge overnight. Add more juice in the morning if it’s not ‘wet’ enough for your taste.

3) Serve it with fresh/frozen berries or chopped green apple shards.

This normally makes enough for 3 mornings for me; for some people this would be closer to 2 serves.
